A beautiful crowd of former strangers gathered to celebrate Wednesday is the new Friday at Annjette and William Del Valle's nearly complete, beautifully remodeled home The glass folding doors opened up the living room to the deck where Andy entertained with music as the sunset and the Space Needle shone. An outdoor fire was enjoyed pre and post show. A wheel barrow with ice preformed well as a cooler for the wine and beer. The scent of William's carnitas greeted us when we pulled up in the driveway. They were a delicious party snack!
This team of women; Rebecca Stout, Maggie Fynn and Kate Fynn sure know how to throw a party. Starting with Rebecca's barn, the perfect setting for a show. Adding a beautiful mix of friends from the Snohomish community. The weather was perfect. As was the timing--the sunset glow added to the magical feel of the evening. Kate Fynn shared her beautiful vocals in a duet of Paul Simon's "African Skies."
Families gathered for an evening of music and merriment in the Grunfelds backyard in Seattle. "Old Radio" opened the night with their folk originals. As the light faded kids danced as Andy played "Soulstice Glide" and "The 1028 Tribal Stomp."
You may recognize the Lewandoski name from the OR part of our trip. We visited brother James in Eugene and will now see brother Pete in his long time home of Grand Rapids. The Lewandoski clan was a big part of Andy's childhood mythology.
Thanks to Jed and Susan for hosting us for the first show of our eastern leg of the Tour de Friends. We are happy to say we have been meeting up with Jed and Susan a little these last few years around our love of vintage campers and camping. Jed has a traveling Neon museum show that we were thrilled to be able to see.
We are really excited to meet up with dear college friend Julie Francis in her community. It is really fun on this trip for us to catch up with old friends we have not seen for too long, meet their family and friends and be part of their current lives.
If not for friends and family this tour would not be happening. We are so grateful for all the support from the good people in our lives. My brother John and wife, Julie are hosting us for a concert, perhaps by the pool. We love to visit them in KC were we enjoy their company, the warm weather and KC BBQ. There is some question whether KC or TX BBQ is better. Our answer --We have to do more research.
My brother Mark along with his partner Mary, will be hosting his 2nd House Concert for us. The first was 9 years ago when we traveled West and Andy preformed 3 house concerts along the way. That was a test and now many years and life events later we are happy to be doing a tour that has included an encore at all 3 of our inaugural house concerts. Love you Mark!
Casey and her dog Shane were our roommates in Ashland when Casey was the Northland College Women's Basketball coach. We have met up with her family when we have been in Nederland and when they visit the Chequamegon Bay and are looking forward to this show to meet the Nederland community.
