It was a beautiful summer afternoon to enjoy concerts on the deck and music and singing into the night. Several all star bands opened for Andy, Just Us, Just Them and Everyone including Joel Glickman. It was an honor for Andy to play for friends from the Northland music department. He tributes Joel for a good deal of his musical knowledge and love for playing. The fire and singing went late into the night. I fell asleep smiling and listing to singing.

Wendy's large pond provided a peaceful morning view, a much needed afternoon cool down and beautiful backdrop for the House Concert. Andy was accompanied by birds and frogs and an occasional dog. The audience also sang along on some songs. Alumni, Carol (Zuke) and BJ Welling were in attendance. Wendy opened the show reciting a poem: The Perfect High, by Shel Silverstein. S'mores around the fire rounded out a perfect time in Iola, WI. Just 7 months and 14,000 miles ago Brian and Jo Nowak-Thompson's farm was our first stop after Thanksgiving as we started out on this tour. It was mind blowing to see all that Brian and Jo had accomplished since we had last visited. It is a beautiful little homestead and a great place for a Barn- House Concert. Neighbors and friends gathered early Sunday evening for wood fired pizza and a real Midwest pot luck prior to the concert. There was so much food you couldn't begin to try everything. I gave it my best shot. The fireflies closed out the evening with their sparkling show. Friends/Northland alumni Chelly and Mark Eichenger and Mike Burmingham traveled a couple of hours to visit and see the show. We are grateful!
Polk City IA offered a great reunion with friends Carol and Jim Laurion. On a sublime balmy Friday evening we enjoyed Iocal wine and a 60's and 70's band at Snus Winery, then a walk over the Des Moines River on the High Trestle Bridge trail. Saturday's farm market began the day with a house concert that evening capped by family and friends sing-a-long while the rain poured down. Thanks for the warm welcome and the fun times! |
